Age-related balance impairments caused by vestibular dysfunction affect 35% of U.S. adults aged 40 years and older (58 million Americans). The economic burden includes >$225 billion in lost productivity and reduced quality of life and >$50B/year in fall-related elderly healthcare costs. Today, diagnosing these disruptions requiresexpensive clinical equipment and complex procedures, and treatments to restore balance require surgically implanted electrodes. Neursantys has developed NEURVESTA, a non-invasive wearable device that can detect vestibular-related balance impairments and correct them with a specialized form of neurostimulation know as Electrical Vestibular Stimulation (EVS). EVS can counteract vestibular balance impairments caused by age-related degeneration, injures such as concussions, and neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis.
