Robert J. Spiegel

Dr. Spiegel has acquired significant R&D, clinical, and operational experience in the biopharmaceutical industry—including Big Pharma, biotech, and academic start-ups—and has offered his guidance to venture capital and private equity firms. Dr. Spiegel is the principal of Spiegel Consulting LLC and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College.

Dr. Spiegel spent over 25 years at Schering-Plough as the first Director for Oncology Clinical Research, Senior Vice President for Worldwide Clinical Research, and Chief Medical Officer, taking drug candidates through clinical development and obtaining over 30 new drug application approvals at the FDA.

Dr. Spiegel is a Board member of Geron Corporation, Cyclacel Therapeutics and Athenex; Senior Advisor to the private equity firm Warburg Pincus LLC; and Advisor to the Israel Biotech Fund.

Dr. Spiegel received his BA from Yale University and his MD from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his specialty training at the NCI, NIH.
