Sarah Sattelmeyer is an experienced project director specializing in education, opportunity, and mobility. Currently serving as Project Director at New America since April 2021, Sattelmeyer previously held the position of Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Education from February 2024 to January 2025. With a significant tenure at The Pew Charitable Trusts from July 2013 to April 2021, Sattelmeyer oversaw the Project on Student Borrower Success, focusing on student loan repayment and servicing through research and advocacy. Sattelmeyer’s earlier roles include social science research at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and research positions at various organizations, including the Henderson Center for Social Justice and the Kaiser Family Foundation. Sattelmeyer holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of Georgia, as well as a Master of Public Policy and a Master of Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley.
