Dr. Niemeier worked with the Anguilla Department of Education to support and teach at-risk secondary students, and she continues working with Project INSPIRE to evaluate technology initiatives in public schools.
In the US, Dr. Niemeier earned the A.A.S. in Emergency Medicine, B.S. in Business Administration, and MBA in Quantitative Methods. She worked as a paramedic at a metropolitan fire department and was later appointed Director of Emergency Medical Services for Todd County, Kentucky. Dr. Niemeier’s work in emergency medicine inspired her interests in the lifelong development of behavior patterns, and she earned the Ph.D. in Human Development from North Dakota State University.
Dr. Niemeier served on the faculty of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for over a decade, where she was Head of Kinesiology and Professor of Health Promotion. She won awards in teaching, advising and service, and she led grant-writing for and implementation and evaluation of health initiatives for Special Olympics Wisconsin. Dr. Niemeier has published in national and international journals and has led presentations at local, regional, national, and international conferences.
