Prof. Oleg Kvlividze has been a key figure in the field of rare diseases since 2009, when he co-founded the Georgian Foundation for Genetic and Rare Diseases (GeRaD), where he currently serves as CEO. GeRaD serves as a vital support network for individuals affected by rare diseases in Georgia, and Prof. Kvlividze is deeply involved in advocacy, policy regulation, and ensuring access to treatment. His work extends to clinical trials, research, education, and the development of registries and biobanks. As an expert, he represents GeRaD and Georgia in various international organizations such as IRDiRC, Orphanet, and EURORDIS, contributing to global discussions on rare diseases and medical genetics. In 2020, he joined the UEMS, Section of Medical Genetics and has been a member of MJC RUD/EBRUD since 2024. Prof. Kvlividze holds a PhD in Medicine from Tbilisi State Medical University and has been a Full Professor at New Vision University since 2018, where he also led the Center of Rare Diseases Research from 2020 to 2022. In addition, he serves as the Deputy Director of the National Center of Dermatology and Venereology. Prof. Kvlividze has authored over 80 scientific works and contributed to numerous guidelines in STI diagnostics and rare diseases, furthering his impact in the medical community.
