New Books Network
Omari Averette-Phillips is a dedicated educator and researcher with extensive experience in African American studies and American history. Currently hosting "New Books in African American Studies" for the New Books Network and serving as a Reader and Teaching Assistant at the University of California, Davis, Omari has also held various teaching roles, including History Instructor at Stanford Online High School and Humanities Teacher at Sequoyah School. Research work includes assisting the City of Sacramento on the reparations initiative for the African American community and contributing to the Journal of the Civil War Era. Omari holds a PhD in American History and has completed a Master's degree in 19th Century U.S. History, alongside a Bachelor's degree in American History from Southern New Hampshire University.
