Roberto Cruz-Gervis

Dr. Roberto Cruz-Gervis is Chief, Hospitalist Service and Director, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH). In these roles, he provides care to complex medical and surgical patients in the ICU, and oversees a group of physicians and nurse practitioners who deliver medical consultative care to post-operative patients.

In addition to practicing as a critical care specialist, he also has an outpatient pulmonary practice, with special interest in the areas of asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, pulmonary fibrosis, and obstructive sleep apnea.

After earning his medical degree from Francisco Marroquin University, Dr. Cruz-Gervis completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Rutgers – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, in New Jersey, followed by a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, in Tennessee. While at Vanderbilt he wrote a number of professional publications in the area of pulmonary fibrosis, while conducting NIH-sponsored research.

Dr. Cruz-Gervis holds an academic appointment as Clinical Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, and a member of the American Thoracic Society, Massachusetts Medical Society, and American College of Physicians. At NEBH he coordinates the Department of Medicine Morbidity and Mortality Conference, he chairs the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee, and participates in multiple hospital-wide committees and task forces. Dr. Cruz-Gervis is a member of the Boston Celtics’ medical staff.
