James Sartell

Course Author/adjunct Instructor at New England College

James Sartell is the Chief of Police for the Townsend Massachusetts Police Department, a position held since November 2017, responsible for overseeing all police functions to ensure the safety of the community. Sartell is actively involved with the International Association of Chiefs of Police, serving on multiple committees, including the Professional Standards Ethics and Image Committee, the IACP Policy Center Working Group, and the Community Policing Committee, contributing to best practices and policy development in law enforcement. Additionally, Sartell has an extensive academic role as an adjunct instructor and course author at various institutions, including Southern New Hampshire University, NHTI, Concord's Community College, and New England College, alongside previous instructional experience at Boston University. Sartell's prior law enforcement experience includes serving as Chief of Police in Hollis, New Hampshire from 1997 to 2017.
