Johanna Houman is an experienced professional in public administration, currently serving as Board Administrator at the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Professional Licensure and Certification since March 2019. With a long tenure at the State of New Hampshire since November 2001 as Grants Administrator, Johanna has expertise in criminal justice program administration, collaborating with law enforcement and mental health professionals. Previous roles include Paralegal II positions at NH Department of Justice and NH Office of the Attorney General from 2002 to 2007, focusing on litigation within the Civil and Environmental Protection Bureaus, and an earlier role as Equipment Technician at Fresenius Medical Care from 1998 to 2001. Johanna holds a degree from Franklin Pierce University, attended from 1999 to 2003.

The Department of Business and Economic Affairs (BEA) is dedicated to enhancing the economic vitality of the State of New Hampshire and promoting it as a destination to live, work and visit. Established in 2017, BEA is a cabinet-level agency which leads New Hampshire’s pro-growth state policy efforts for workforce development, tourism marketing and promotion, business recruitment, retention, expansion, international commerce, and economic development statewide. The majority of our programs and services are provided at no cost. In addition to providing assistance in areas ranging from licensing and financing to permitting and workforce training, the Division of Economic Development staff works with federal, regional, local and other state agencies, as well as with private sector partners, to deliver services.
