Mark McDonough

Mark McDonough is an experienced legal and compliance professional currently serving as President of New Jersey American Water since April 2021 and as Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer at American Water since November 2014. With a background in managing compliance and ethics programs, McDonough has also held senior legal positions in American Water Enterprises, Inc., including Deputy General Counsel and Director of Federal Policy and Compliance. Prior to these roles, McDonough practiced law as an associate at Gruccio Pepper Desanto and Ruth and provided judicial support as a law clerk for the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. McDonough's extensive experience in fraud investigations began with the U.S. General Services Administration and continued at AMTRAK and the U.S. Department of Energy, focusing on complex contract fraud and environmental crimes. McDonough holds a JD from George Mason University, an MS in Justice from American University, and a BS in Criminal Justice from the University of Delaware.
