Bernadette Longo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities at the New Jersey Institute of Technology since July 2012, where Bernadette has also served as the director of the MS program in Professional and Technical Communication. In addition, Longo has taken on the role of Special Assistant to the Dean for Communication and Faculty Affairs, focusing on program development for faculty communications and mentoring. Prior experience includes serving as an Editor at the Center for African Affairs and Global Peace, a researcher at the University of Minnesota Charles Babbage Institute studying a computer pioneer, and roles in academic institutions such as Clemson University and California State University, Stanislaus. Longo's early career involved contract medical writing, particularly in cardiac devices, and co-founding the Northside Food Project to enhance food security. Longo earned a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Communication from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and holds an M.A. in English from California State University, Stanislaus.
