David Dean

Associate Director - IT at New Jersey State Library

David Dean has a diverse background in IT and library services. From 1997 to 2005, they worked as an IT Consultant in a self-employed capacity. In this role, they provided consultation services to various clients.

In 2005, they transitioned to the New Jersey State Library where they assumed the position of Library Associate. During this time, they provided technical support to a staff of 75+ and was involved in network and telecommunication system upgrades.

From 2007 to 2014, David held the role of Network Engineer at the New Jersey State Library. David was part of a team responsible for supporting a service provider WAN with multiple customer sites. David played a significant role in virtualizing the server environment, implementing a Fibre Channel SAN, and upgrading the core capacity. Additionally, they worked on various support tasks such as firewall changes, VoIP migrations, and circuit upgrades. In their spare time, they contributed to open-source software relevant to the library community.

Eventually, in 2014, David was promoted to the position of Associate Director - IT at the New Jersey State Library. In this role, they continued to provide support and develop new applications for libraries in the state. David also integrated data from management applications with the help desk system to enhance problem visibility and streamline operations.

David Dean earned a Master's Degree in Project Management from Thomas Edison State University between 2012 and 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in French and History from Florida State University, during the period of 2001 to 2005. Additionally, David has obtained several certifications from Cisco, including CCNP Service Provider in June 2014, CCIP in July 2008, and CCNA in June 2007.
