New Life Church (Everett, WA)

New Life Church is part of a larger family of churches called "Foursquare." Foursquare is a Pentecostal denomination that resulted from the dynamic evangelistic ministry of the founder, Aimee Semple McPherson. In 1915, God called her to “preach the Word.” Aimee began traveling, holding crusades in the Eastern United States where many people were saved and healed. She was a powerful communicator and God used her in mighty ways. The first Foursquare church was opened on January 1, 1923. Aimee traveled and preached the Foursquare Gospel, which teaches: Jesus Christ The Savior, The Baptizer with The Holy Spirit, The Healer, and The Soon and Coming King. As Aimee continued to train and send out preachers and missionaries, the need for a connection and organization became apparent. Today the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel spans the world, with more than 1,700 churches in the United States and more than 66,000 churches globally in 140 countries. On July 11, 1940, Aimee Semple McPherson held a crusade at the Everett Civic Auditorium to a packed crowd. As a result of this gathering, Everett Foursquare Church was planted. The church met in a small building on 25th & Wetmore in North Everett. In 1949, Maynard Haaland became Senior Pastor of the Everett Foursquare Church. He served faithfully as Senior Pastor for over 20 years. In 1964 the newly named “New Life Center,” purchased and renovated the abandoned Roosevelt School on Madison & Highland. Under the leadership of Pastors – Tom Ferguson, Randy Remington, and Nate Poetzl, the church experienced explosive growth and dynamic ministry to the community and the world. In 2011, Jim Romack and family came to serve as Lead Pastors of “New Life,” where Jim as a young man had served on staff as the Youth Pastor. In New Life’s 70+ years of history, thousands have come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, several churches have been planted, and global outreach has touched multiple countries.
