Robert Retherford

Robert Retherford is an accomplished legal professional currently serving as an Attorney for Child Support Services at the New Mexico Health Care Authority since December 2023. Previously, Retherford worked as a Master Children's Court Attorney with the New Mexico Department of Children, Youth, and Families from October 2022 to December 2023, and held roles including Appellate Attorney and Children's Court Attorney within the same department from 2015 to 2022. As a sole practitioner from 2005 to 2015, Retherford specialized in Social Security, Estate Planning, Children's Law, and civil work. Retherford's earlier experience includes providing legal assistance at DNA-People's Legal Services and clerking at the Native American Rights Fund. In addition to legal practice, Retherford has a background in education, having taught Linguistics and established an English as a Second Language program. Educational qualifications include a JD from the University of Colorado and an MA in Linguistics and International Studies from Ohio University, among others.
