Emily Cherniack

Founder at New Politics

Emily Cherniack has an extensive work experience in various roles and positions. Emily founded the New Politics Leadership Academy in 2016 and also founded New Politics in 2013. Prior to this, they worked as the Chief of Staff/Deputy Campaign Manager for Khazei for Massachusetts U.S Senate from March 2011 to November 2011.

Cherniack also served as the Chief of Staff and then as the Director of Organizing for Be the Change, Inc from July 2009 to March 2011, where they developed strategies for operational systems, fundraising, leadership training, and political campaigns. Emily also acted as a connector and organizer for the service movement and community leaders in order to facilitate systemic change.

Before that, they worked as the Deputy Finance Director for Citizens for Alan Khazei from September 2009 to December 2009. Prior to their involvement in political campaigns and organizations, Cherniack was a Research Associate for The National Clearinghouse for English Language Acquisition from October 2005 to March 2007, where they managed and led the annual OELA Summit, analyzed and disseminated research reports and policies, and worked closely with the U.S. Department of Education.

Cherniack's career started at City Year Boston, where they held multiple roles including Service Director and Program Manager from 2002 to 2004. In these positions, they managed teams, worked with community leaders to address youth violence and affordable housing, organized the National Conference's physical service day in Washington, DC, and facilitated social justice workshops to break down social barriers and stereotypes for corps members.

Emily Cherniack attended The George Washington University from 1997 to 2001, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice. Emily then pursued further education at the same institution from 2004 to 2006, earning a Master's degree in Education Policy and Leadership.
