Joy Cantey has a diverse work experience in the education industry. Joy is currently serving as the Senior Director of Program Design at New Teacher Center since August 2022. Prior to this, they held various roles at Guilford County Schools, including Senior Director of K-12 Literacy/MTSS from October 2020 to August 2022, K-12 Literacy Director from August 2017 to November 2021, Curriculum Coordinator in Literacy from November 2014 to August 2017, and K-8 Curriculum Specialist in Literacy from October 2011 to November 2014. Before joining Guilford County Schools, they worked at Alamance-Burlington School System as a Teacher from January 2002 to June 2007 and as a Curriculum Facilitator from August 2007 to June 2009. Additionally, they worked as a Teacher at Alamance-Burlington School System from July 2009 to September 2011.
Joy Cantey completed their Bachelor's degree in Junior High/Intermediate/Middle School Education and Teaching at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from 1997 to 2001. Later, they pursued a Master of Education (MEd) in Special Education and Teaching at Elon University from 2006 to 2009.
