Vice President, Program Delivery & Learning at New Teacher Center

Krysten Wendell has a diverse work experience in the education sector. Krysten currently holds the position of Vice President, Program Delivery & Learning at New Teacher Center since August 2022. Earlier in their career, Krysten served as a Founding/Lead Teacher at East Chicago Lighthouse Charter School from July 2006 to June 2008. Krysten was recognized as the Lighthouse Academies Teacher of the Year for the 2007-2008 school year and achieved significant gains in student achievement on ISTEP and NWEA assessments.

Krysten's work experience also includes working as a Corps Member Advisor at Teach For America Summer Institute in June and July 2006, where they supported and trained first-year teachers.

Krysten began their teaching career as a Third Grade Teacher at Joshua Butler Elementary School from July 2004 to June 2006, where they implemented a standardized test tutoring curriculum and facilitated a behavior data evaluation committee.

Krysten Wendell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Rhodes College, which they obtained from 2000 to 2004. Krysten Wendell also possesses additional certifications including an Indiana K-8 Generalist Teaching License, which they acquired from the Indiana Department of Education in February 2014. Furthermore, they hold an Indiana Building Level Administrator License from the Indiana Department of Education, which they obtained in March 2018.
