Sasha Vazquez

Instructional Designer and Coach at New Teacher Center

Sasha Vazquez has a diverse range of work experience. In 2007, they began their career as a Corps Member with Teach For America, where they worked until 2009. During this time, they gained valuable experience as an educator. Sasha then joined the NYC Department of Education as a First Grade Bilingual Teacher from 2007 to 2011. Sasha's passion for bilingual education led their to the role of Bilingual Education Specialist at Erie Elementary Charter School, where they worked from 2011 to 2022. In this position, they played a vital role in supporting bilingual students and their educational needs. Currently, Sasha is an Instructional Designer and Coach at New Teacher Center, starting in 2022. Their primary focus is developing high-quality products and services for face-to-face and virtual professional learning, with an emphasis on supporting equitable outcomes and disrupting systemic inequities. Sasha brings a deep understanding of instructional design and is committed to empowering educators to be agents of change.

Sasha Vazquez completed a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Spanish at Washington University in St. Louis from 2003 to 2007. Following this, Sasha pursued further education and obtained a Master's degree (M.Ed) in Dual Language/Bilingual Childhood Education from Bank Street College of Education from 2007 to 2010. In July 2011, Sasha obtained additional certifications, including the Education: Professional Educator Certificate and the Teacher, Bilingual Education Endorsement, both from the Illinois State Board of Education.
