Matthew Smith is the Chief Executive Officer at Truss since September 2021. Matthew is also a New Ventures B.C. Top 10 Finalist at New Ventures BC since September 2020. Additionally, Matthew is the FFCON20 Week 8 Demo Competition Winner at the National Crowdfunding & Fintech Association of Canada. Matthew is recognized as Douglas Magazine's 10 to Watch Winner at Douglas Magazine Victoria. Previously, Matthew served as CEO & Co-Founder at MazumaGo Canada and as a Labs Batch 2 Founder at LOI - League of Innovators. Matthew is currently pursuing a degree in Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science at the University of Victoria.

New Ventures BC
New Ventures BC is a non-profit organization that recognizes, encourages, and supports entrepreneurship in BC’s technology sector. Each year we run the New Ventures BC Competition, the largest and longest-running tech competition in BC, offering education, coaching and awarding $250,000 and prizes to BC startups. We offer a mentored, Distance Venture Acceleration Program focused on customer discovery and Market Validation Training. Through our Innovator Skills Initiative grant program we give tech companies and startups, up to $10,000 a year to hire a BC post-secondary student.
