Shannon Wilson has a diverse work experience in the broadcasting and engineering field. Starting in 2010, they worked as a News/Content Specialist at WTVM News Leader 9 before moving on to become an IT & Engineering Assistant in 2014. In 2016, they were promoted to IT Manager, where they managed Broadcast IT operations for multiple offices and tower sites. In 2018, Shannon joined WCIV as the Assistant Chief Engineer, where they assisted the Chief Engineer in managing and overseeing engineering and broadcast facilities. They were later promoted to Chief Engineer in 2020. Currently, Shannon is serving as the Vice President of Engineering & Operations at FOX 5 Atlanta, WAGA-TV, a role they took on in May 2023. They also have experience outside the broadcasting industry, having worked as a Scene Shop Assistant at Columbus State University from 2012 to 2014.
Shannon Wilson obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Technical Theatre/Theatre Design and Technology from Columbus State University, graduating in 2014. Additionally, Shannon has obtained several certifications, including Avid Certified System Administrator iNews from Avid in March 2021, Dante Certification Level 1 from Audinate in September 2020, Avid Certified Support Representative Elite from Avid in December 2019, Certified Television Operator (CTO) from the Society of Broadcast Engineers in December 2019, Amateur Radio License (Technician) from the ARRL, the national association for Amateur Radio in December 2018, Comptia A+ from CompTIA in July 2016, Certified Broadcast Technologist (CBT) from the Society of Broadcast Engineers in April 2016, and Certified Broadcast Networking Technologist (CBNT) from the Society of Broadcast Engineers in July 2017.
