Dashawn Usher

DaShawn Usher serves as the Senior Director of Communities of Color and Media at GLAAD, leading efforts to enhance visibility and acceptance of Black LGBTQ+ individuals through media advocacy. With a strong background in promoting equity for Black queer creators, DaShawn has held multiple roles at GLAAD, including Director and Associate Director of Communities of Color. Additionally, DaShawn is the Executive Director of Mobilizing Our Brothers Initiative (MOBI), facilitating programming that fosters community and personal development for Black gay and queer individuals. As the Manager of Community Engagement at New York Blood Center, DaShawn oversees recruitment and education efforts. Previous experiences include leadership roles at Impulse Group NYC and Young Black Gay Mens Leadership Initiative (YBGLI), along with editorial work at DBQ Magazine. DaShawn holds a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from Middle Tennessee State University.
