Eileen Travis has a strong background in directing and managing programs related to lawyer assistance, chemical dependency, and family services. Eileen began their career in 1984 as a Director at Outreach Family Services, where they worked until 1987. From 1987 to 1999, they served as the Director of the New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens Outpatient Chemical Dependency Program. In 1999, Travis joined the New York City Bar as the Director of the Lawyer Assistance Program, a position they currently hold.
Eileen Travis attended Adelphi University School of Social Work in Garden City, New York from 1977 to 1979. During this time, they completed their Master of Social Work (MSW) degree with a focus on clinical practice for individuals and families.

The New York City Bar Association (www.nycbar.org) is a voluntary organization with 24,000 members. Since its founding in 1870, the City Bar has been dedicated to maintaining the high ethical standards of the legal profession, promoting reform of the law and providing service to the profession and the public. The City Bar's 150 Committees issue hundreds of reports and present hundreds of events annually. The Legal Referral Service matches vetted lawyers with clients. The City Bar Center for CLE provides continuing legal education for lawyers. The City Bar Justice Center provides pro bono legal services to the disadvantaged. Protecting the public’s welfare remains one of the Association’s highest priorities.
