Irma V. is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in various roles within the legal and community service sectors. Currently serving as an Attorney Referral Counselor at the New York City Bar Association since August 2021, Irma has previously held significant positions, including Managing Partner at YAROSH | VALDEZ P.C., where a broad background in criminal, immigration, and civil rights law was developed. As Principal Broker of Irma Valdez Properties, Inc. from June 2005 to December 2020, Irma managed a real estate firm and has also contributed to community welfare as a Trustee for the Multnomah Athletic Club. Further civic involvement includes serving as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Portland and as an Assistant United States Attorney, where federal prosecutions were conducted. Irma holds a Bachelor of Arts in American History from Brown University and a Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

Since its founding in 1870, the City Bar has been dedicated to maintaining the high ethical standards of the legal profession, promoting reform of the law and providing service to the profession and the public. The City Bar's 150 Committees issue hundreds of reports and present hundreds of events annually. The Legal Referral Service matches vetted lawyers with clients. The City Bar Center for CLE provides continuing legal education for lawyers. The City Bar Justice Center provides pro bono legal services to the disadvantaged. Protecting the public’s welfare remains one of the Association’s highest priorities.
