Kate McMahon is a seasoned legal professional currently serving as Senior Director of The Women’s Project at Wildcat Service Corporation/The Fedcap Group since October 2021, focusing on alternatives to pre-trial detention for women and gender-expansive individuals in New York City. Previously, McMahon held the position of Deputy General Counsel at the New York City Board of Correction from June 2017 to October 2021, where responsibilities included legal oversight and regulation of NYC jails. McMahon also engaged in academia as an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Law at Brooklyn Law School from January 2015 to May 2017. Prior roles include Senior Counsel at the New York City Law Department, Pro Bono Attorney at the Vera Institute of Justice, and Litigation Associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. McMahon earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and English from Boston College.
