Alexander Frenkel

Controller at New York City Center

Alexander Frenkel is the Controller at New York City Center. Prior to their current position, they worked at Park Avenue Armory from March 2016 to October 2019 as the Controller. While at Park Avenue Armory, they were responsible for the general accounting of the institution, including journal entries, cash disbursements, accounts payable, cash receipts, accounts receivable, reconciliation of bank accounts and Endowment investments. Alexander also created the annual budget and developed custom reports to align financial tracking with management processes, enabling program managers to more accurately project and monitor budget variances. In addition, Frenkel prepared short and long-term cash flow analysis and monitored cash flow, making short-term investment decisions based on working capital needs. Alexander also implemented internal control procedures and was responsible for the annual audit and preparation of federal filings, including IRS Form 990. Frenkel maintained banking relationships and worked with investment advisors overseeing $83M in reserves and endowment funds. Alexander also prepared financial reports for the Board of Directors and various subcommittees. Lastly, they administered employment policies and benefit programs including 403b Plans (filing annual Form 5500), flexible spending plans, FMLA, vacation and other paid time off policies.

Alexander Frenkel's educational career includes a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from Brooklyn College, an Associate of Science in Accounting from Kingsborough Community College, and a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Zhytomyr National Agroecological University. Alexander is also a Certified Public Accountant and a Notary Public.
