Michele Sviridoff has been working on criminal justice issues in New York City since 1977 when she began working at the Vera Institute’s research department. Between 1993 and 2002, she worked at the Center of Court Innovation, initially as the research director of the Midtown Community Court and finally as a Deputy Director of the Center itself. Between 2002 and 2016, she served as the City’s Deputy Criminal Justice Coordinator where she focused on juvenile justice reform and criminal justice system analysis and planning. She currently consults on criminal justice issues for the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, the Institute for State and Local Governments at the City University of New York and Every Town for Gun Safety. She is a graduate of Smith College and holds an MPhil from Yale University. She is the author of Dispensing Justice Locally, a study of the implementation and effects of the Midtown Community Court.
