James Vasile

James Vasile is a seasoned professional in free and open source software strategy, currently serving as Principal at Open Tech Strategies since February 2010. Vasile has also held positions as Board Member at the Electronic Frontier Foundation since July 2020, and previously as Director of the Open Internet Tools Project from March 2012 to 2015. Other notable roles include Senior Fellow at the Software Freedom Law Center from 2005 to 2014, Executive Director of the Freedom Box Foundation from March 2011 to November 2012, and various board positions with Open Source Matters, Inc. and Circle Arts, Inc. Vasile’s educational background includes a Juris Doctor degree from Columbia Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics from Fordham University.
