Melissa Avilez Lopez is a data analyst at the New York Civil Liberties Union since October 2023, following a diverse range of experiences at Connecticut College from August 2019 to May 2023. At Connecticut College, Melissa served as a student advisor, resident hall director, and dialogue facilitator, contributing significantly to community development and social justice initiatives. As co-chair of the Women of Color Collective, Melissa established the first database of women of color within the college community. Engagement in research roles included projects on topics such as economic inequality and mental health services, coupled with tutoring in Portuguese and Spanish. Melissa holds a bachelor's degree in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics from Connecticut College.
