Berenice Herskovits

Broadcast Engineer at New York Public Radio

Berenice Herskovits has extensive work experience in the field of broadcast engineering. Berenice began their career as an Electrical Engineer at Kulite Semiconductor Products Inc. in 1995, where they conducted lab research and built and maintained welding robots. In 1999, they worked as a Systems Engineer at ABC Television for a brief period. From 2000 to 2004, they served as an Engineering Technician at Viacom, responsible for keeping over 100 live network channels on the air. At Charter Communications, Berenice worked as a Senior Broadcast Engineer from 2005 to 2018. In this role, they were responsible for maintaining the live studio and NY1 cable news network, as well as installing and supporting video, audio, and networking systems. Berenice then worked as a Broadcast IT Engineer at NYC Media Radio and Television from 2018 to 2019. Berenice joined ABC News in 2019 as a Studio Maintenance Engineer and simultaneously worked as a Broadcast Studio Engineer at AETV Live. In 2020, they became a Senior Tech at SiriusXM until September 2022. Most recently, they worked as a Broadcast Engineer at WBGO and currently holds the same position at New York Public Radio.

Berenice Herskovits has a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in the same field from Columbia University as well. Berenice also holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Fordham University. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained a Radio Operator certification from the Federal Communications Commission in September 1990 and a Technician Class certification from the American Radio Relay League in January 1993. Currently, they are working towards obtaining a Professional Engineer License from the National Society of Professional Engineers, with an expected completion year of 2023.
