Jim Bell has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Jim began their career as an independent consultant at Digital Designs in 1989, where they provided web and graphics design, database development, and office automation services. During this time, they also published numerous articles in various magazines and taught computer classes for local businesses and educational institutions. In 1990, Jim joined the New York State Assembly as the Manager of OADP Computer Training & Support, where they oversaw support specialists and web developers and managed help desk and classroom training for 2,000 end users across the state. Jim also assisted senior management in researching and drafting IT standards, policies, and procedures. In 2000, Jim moved to the New York State Senate as the Director of Senate Technology Services. In this role, they were responsible for delivering and managing information technology and telecommunications services to 1,200 employees in Albany and remote offices statewide. Jim also played a key role in IT strategic planning, project management, and advising the Secretary of the Senate on internal IT policy issues.
Jim Bell has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Journalism from the University at Albany, SUNY. Additionally, they have a Graduate Certificate in Project Management from SUNY Empire State College. Jim also holds a Front End Development Certificate from freeCodeCamp, which they obtained in March 2018 after completing approximately 400 hours of coursework and projects.
