Mark Hansen first started their work experience in 1987 as the Public Relations Coordinator for the New York State Assembly. From 1991 to 1995, they worked as the Communications Director for Senator William J. Larkin Jr. Following that, they joined the New York State Senate, serving as the Deputy Director of Communications from 1995 to 2014 and then as the Director of Media Services from 2015 onwards. In 2010, they became a Board Member for the Capital District YMCA, where they undertook various tasks such as writing columns for news publications and organizing press conferences to promote YMCA events.
Mark Hansen attended Syracuse University from 1977 to 1981, where they obtained a degree in Broadcast Journalism. During their studies, they focused on subjects such as Journalism, Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Public Speaking.
