Shelley Mayer has an extensive background in public service and legal counsel, currently serving as a State Senator in the New York State Senate since April 2018. Prior to this role, Mayer was an Assemblymember in the New York State Assembly from March 2012 to April 2018 and held various legal positions, including Senior Counsel for the National State Attorneys General Program at Columbia Law School from 2011 to 2012. Mayer previously served as Chief Counsel for the Democratic Conference in the New York State Senate from 2007 to 2011, and Counsel at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP from 2003 to 2006. Additionally, Mayer was the Corporate Vice President for Government and Community Affairs at Continuum Health Partners, Inc. from 1995 to 2003 and worked as a Senior Advisor at the Office of the Attorney General of the State of New York from 1982 to 1994. Shelley Mayer earned a Doctor of Law (JD) from the University at Buffalo School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from UCLA.
