Sparrow Tobin

Sparrow Tobin currently serves as President of the Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation and has held the position since September 2019, representing 113,000 union families across seven counties. In addition to this role, Sparrow has been the 4th Ward Alderman for the Common Council since January 2018 and serves as the ED 14 Director on the NYSUT Board of Directors, alongside involvement in the Political Action Committee for Senate District 39. With a long-standing tenure as a Social Studies Teacher at Washingtonville Central School District since September 2000, Sparrow previously held the position of Secretary Treasurer for the Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation AFL-CIO from January 2017 to September 2019 and served as President of the Hudson Catskill Central Labor Council AFL-CIO from September 2004 to June 2019, representing over 26,000 union families in Orange and Sullivan Counties. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Instructional Technology from the New York Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's degree in History from the University at Albany.
