New York Transit Museum
Concetta Anne Bencivenga is an accomplished leader in the nonprofit and educational sectors, currently serving as the Director of the New York Transit Museum since January 2017, where the focus is on urban public transportation history. Prior experience includes serving as the Assistant Head of School for Operations & Advancement at The IDEAL School of Manhattan, where the commitment to inclusion and social justice received national recognition. As Executive Director of generationOn, Concetta led youth service activities and engaged communities around significant social issues. Previous roles also include Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Please Touch Museum, where strategic management and financial leadership played key roles in the museum's expansion. Additional experience includes teaching at the Fels Institute of Government, consulting for Public Financial Management, and various positions with the Peace Corps, including leading recruitment and serving as a volunteer in Thailand. Concetta holds an M.P.Aff from The University of Texas at Austin and a BA in History from Loyola University Maryland.

The New York Transit Museum, one of the city's leading cultural institutions is the largest museum in the United States devoted to urban public transportation history, and one of the premier institutions of its kind in the world. The Museum explores the development of the greater New York Metropolitan region through the presentations of exhibitions, tours, educational programs, and workshops dealing with the cultural, social, and technological history of public transportation. Since its inception forty years ago, the Museum, housed in a historic 1936 IND subway station in Brooklyn Heights, has grown in scope and popularity. As custodian and interpreter of the region's extensive public transportation networks, the Museum strives to share, through its public programs, this rich and vibrant history with local, regional, and international audiences.
