Tony Sumner

Tony Sumner is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in public affairs and customer operations. Currently serving as the Director of Defence Public Affairs for the New Zealand Defence Force since May 1992, Tony Sumner focuses on enhancing relationships and communication to support strategic effectiveness. Previous roles include leadership positions such as Global Head of Customer Operations at Xero and Contact Center Manager at several organizations, including Genesis Energy and AMP New Zealand. Additionally, Tony Sumner has an Army Reserve Officer role and has undergone comprehensive military education, earning a Master of Defence Studies from the Royal Military College of Canada and completing various programs related to international relations and national security.
