Michael A. Smith Ed.d

Michael A. Smith Ed.D is an experienced higher education professional currently serving as the Assistant Vice President of Student Experience at Newberry College since February 2016. With a strong focus on student engagement and retention, Michael designs programs and activities aimed at enhancing the first-year experience, supervises key staff, and collaborates with campus stakeholders to foster student success. Michael's expertise is supported by an Ed.D in Organizational Leadership from Abilene Christian University and a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration from Georgia Southern University. Previous roles include Director of Student Engagement & Greek Life and Assistant Director of Student Engagement at Horry-Georgetown Technical College.
