Joe Kelk

Joe Kelk Ph.D. is a Research Associate at Newcastle University, specializing in stem cell technology and retinal blastoma organoid development with the Lako lab group since April 2024. Previously, Joe held the position of Senior Scientist in Technical Account Management at Roslin Technologies from January 2023 to February 2024. Joe's academic journey includes a Doctorate in Molecular Biology from The Open University (2019-2022), a Master's in Translational Neuroscience from The University of Sheffield (2017-2018), and a Bachelor's in Biomedical Sciences from Leeds Beckett University (2013-2016). Joe's research experience also encompasses a doctoral project at the Mario Negri Institute focused on the interaction between macrophages and endothelial functions, as well as a secondment period at MIMETAS developing a 3D model for vascular studies. Joe's early career included roles in microbiology and clinical environments, contributing to a robust foundation in laboratory practices and health safety.
