Hywel Jones

Hywel Jones is an experienced environmental professional currently serving as the Environmental Permitting Lead at newcleo since November 2023, focusing on environmental permitting and safety case development for lead-cooled Advanced Modular Reactor deployment in the UK. Prior to this role, Hywel was a Trustee at Ride Bristol from October 2022 to February 2025, supporting the development of accessible mountain biking trails and promoting environmental stewardship. Hywel has extensive experience at Magnox Ltd, where roles as Senior Waste Consultant and Waste Consultant involved managing radioactive waste and environmental permissions for decommissioning projects. Hywel also worked for a decade at Atkins as a Senior Environmental Consultant, providing consultancy services to UK nuclear operators. Academically, Hywel holds a Master's degree in Environmental Science from the University of Southampton and completed A Levels at Malmesbury School.
