Mike Penton

Mike Penton has a diverse work experience in finance and accounting spanning over 15 years. Mike is currently working at Newfoundland Power, where they started in 2012 as a Supervisor, overseeing Property Plant & Equipment. In 2016, they advanced to the role of Manager in the same department. Since November 2019, Mike has been serving as a Director of Finance at Newfoundland Power.

In addition to their time at Newfoundland Power, Mike also worked at Fortis Inc. as a Manager of Financial Reporting from May 2018 to March 2019. Prior to that, they gained experience in investment management and joint venture accounting at Suncor Energy from 2009 to 2012.

Mike's career began at Deloitte in 2005, where they worked as a Senior Accountant in Assurance & Advisory until 2009. Overall, their work experience demonstrates a progression in roles and responsibilities within the finance and accounting field.

Mike Penton obtained their Bachelor of Commerce degree with an accounting concentration from Memorial University of Newfoundland, which they pursued from 2002 to 2007. Following this, from 2006 to 2010, they attended the Atlantic School of Chartered Accountancy, where they earned their Chartered Accountant (CA) designation.
