Richard Chang

Partner, CEO at NewFoundry

Richard Chang has worked in various roles since 2012. Richard began as Partner and CEO of NewFoundry, where they turned wishes, ideas, dreams, and needs into reality via software. In 2021, Richard co-founded and served as interim CEO and COO of Kestrel Medical Inc., a spin-off product from NewFoundry. Through this role, they worked to eliminate EHR: Excuses, Headaches, and Risk in regards to enabling research and innovation in healthcare that wants to utilize software based solutions. In 2020, Richard co-founded and served as interim CEO of See Lion, a spin-off product from NewFoundry. In 2022, they became a Member of the Entrepreneurs' Organization. In 2021, Richard joined the Board of Directors for Washtenaw Community College Foundation and the Board of Directors and Board Chair for United Way of Washtenaw County. In 2019, they joined the Board of Directors for Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority (TheRide), Michigan League for Public Policy, and Michigan Works! Southeast, where they also served on the Executive Committee. In 2020, they joined the Board of Directors for the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum.

Richard Chang attended Webb Institute from 1991 to 1994, where they obtained a degree in Marine Engineering & Naval Architecture in the field of Engineering. Richard then continued their studies at the University of Michigan, where they obtained a BSE in Marine Engineering & Naval Architecture in the field of Engineering between 1994 and 1995.
