Kate Brand

Kate Brand is an experienced professional in tailings and water management, currently serving as Group Manager Tailings and Water at Newmont Corporation following the recent acquisition of Newcrest. Previously, Kate held several positions at Newcrest Mining, including Acting Head of Tailings and Water and Manager - Tailings and Water. At BHP, Kate was instrumental in forming the BMA Engineering Rapid Risk Reduction Dams department and served as Responsible Dam Engineer for significant tailings storage facilities. Kate's engineering expertise was further developed through roles at ACS Engineers and Klohn Crippen Berger, focusing on civil and environmental engineering projects. Educational credentials include a Master of Engineering Science in Geotechnical Engineering from UNSW, a Graduate Certificate in Environmental Management from Charles Sturt University, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil and Environmental Management from QUT.
