Kelly Payne

Kelly Payne is a seasoned professional in environmental management and geology, currently serving as General Manager for the Yanacocha Closure project at Newmont Corporation since February 2019, after holding the positions of Water & Closure Strategic Planning Director and Injection Leaching Project Director. Prior experience includes five years as the Director of Group Environment at Rio Tinto, and a board member for the Board of Oil, Gas and Mining in the State of Utah. Additional roles include Manager of Environment and Principal Advisor for Closure & Remediation at Kennecott Utah Copper, and Manager of Environmental & Hydrology at Norwest Corporation. Kelly's career began as a Senior Hydrogeologist at Mayo & Associates. Academic credentials consist of both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Brigham Young University.
