Peter Hughes-Hallett

Peter Hughes-Hallett is an experienced leader in safety and sustainability within the mining sector, currently serving as the Head of Safety and Sustainability at Newmont North America since October 2007. Throughout a distinguished career at Newmont, Peter has held various significant positions including Vice President of Sustainability and External Relations, Country Manager for Newmont Mexico, and Sustainability Director for both Mexico-Peñasquito and Latin America. Key responsibilities involve embedding strategic safety and sustainability objectives across operations, advising senior management on Health & Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC) matters, and ensuring compliance with internal and external standards. Prior to Newmont, Peter served as General Manager at HH Consulting and held multiple leadership roles at the Honduran Mining Direction (DEFOMIN). Peter's educational background includes a Master's degree in Geo-Environment from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and a Certificate of Management Excellence from Harvard Business School.
