Shaun Schmeider

Shaun Schmeider is an accomplished professional in the field of geology and exploration, currently serving as the Head of Exploration Delivery for the Americas at Newmont Corporation since August 2013. In this role, Shaun leads Near Mine and Brownfields exploration initiatives across North and South America, focusing on strategic project planning, execution, and the development of new resources. Prior to this position, Shaun held various leadership roles within Newmont, including Head of Exploration for LATAC, Director of Near Mine Exploration, and Geology/Technical Services Manager at the Newmont Tanami Operation. Shaun's extensive experience in exploration management began with significant roles at Newmont and Normandy Mining Limited, including Chief Consulting Geologist and Project Geologist. Shaun holds a Bachelor of Applied Science with honors in Geology from Queensland University of Technology, obtained in 1996, as well as another Bachelor of Applied Science in Geology from the same institution earned in 1995.
