Shawn Chen

Shawn Chen is a seasoned process control professional with extensive experience in the mining and metallurgy sectors. Currently serving as Process Control Manager at Newmont Corporation since January 2020, Shawn previously held the position of Process Manager at Corporacion Minera Dominicana S.A., where responsibilities included managing a Copper-Zinc-Gold-Silver process plant and overseeing feasibility studies. Prior experience also includes roles as Process Technical Services Superintendent at Barrick Gold Corporation, where Shawn led a large team of specialists at a premier gold process facility, and as Chief Process Control Engineer at ENI Petroleum. Additional experience encompasses positions at Sumitomo Metal Mining Pogo LLC and Rio Tinto’s Greens Creek Mine. Shawn's educational credentials comprise a PhD candidacy in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University, two Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mineral Process Engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and a Bachelor's degree in Mineral Processing Engineering from Huainan Mining Institute.
