Steve Ward

Steve Ward is an accomplished leader in the sports and leisure sector with extensive experience spanning over two decades. Since April 2015, Steve has served as the Chief Executive of Newport Live and holds the position of Regional Director for Wales at Community Leisure UK since June 2020. Prior to these roles, Steve was the Head of Continuing Learning and Leisure at Newport City Council from June 2011 to March 2015. Significant achievements include serving as Performance Director at British Para Table Tennis from September 2000 to March 2009, where Steve established a high-performance sport system, fostering World Champions and future Paralympic Gold Medalists. Earlier in the career, Steve worked as a Regional Development Officer for English Table Tennis from September 1994 to March 1996. Steve holds a degree in Sport & Human Movement Studies from the University of Wales, Cardiff, obtained between 1991 and 1994.
