Dominique McDermott has a diverse background in communications and strategy roles. They started their career in 2011 as a Traffic Manager/Executive Assistant at Make Communications, where they were responsible for managing the office and creative studio, as well as handling client communication and administrative tasks.
From there, McDermott worked as a Communications Officer at the Marketing and Communications Team at Crown Law, Dept. of Justice and Attorney-General, delivering internal and external communications.
In 2012, McDermott joined Suncorp Bank as a Communications Officer, where they developed and executed communication strategies for various projects and campaigns.
They then worked at Cancer Research UK as an Internal Communications Officer, responsible for planning and delivering successful organization-wide projects.
McDermott joined Nova Entertainment in 2015, where they held roles such as Client and Event Coordinator, Insights & Ideas Executive, and Campaign Development Manager, leading campaign strategy, concepting, and presenting integrated campaigns.
They later joined Pedestrian Group as a Strategy and Response Manager, where they strategized, conceptualized, and delivered large idea-led responses for the youth publisher. They also took on the role of Campaign Manager.
McDermott then worked at oOh! as a Content & Creative Strategist, collaborating with Junkee Media on integrated campaigns and leading production pricing and positioning.
In 2020, they joined Junkee Media as a Strategy and Solutions Lead, where they crafted integrated campaign presentations and delivered audience surveys and thought pieces.
They also worked at SUDDENLY as a Content Strategy Manager for Woolworths, responsible for content strategy and planning.
Currently, McDermott is working at News Corp Australia as the Acting Head of Commercial, Audio, overseeing audio-related commercial operations and leading the team. They have previously held the role of Senior Audio Strategy Manager, NewsCast.
Throughout their career, McDermott has demonstrated skills in strategy, campaign development, content planning, and communications.
Dominique McDermott attended QUT (Queensland University of Technology) from 2007 to 2010, where they pursued a dual degree in Business (with Distinction) and Creative Industries. Dominique's main areas of study were Advertising (Business) and Communications, Creative and Professional Writing (CI).
