News Items is an email newsletter collection of news stories, commentaries, analysis, essays and research reports that are interesting, important or both. 

News Items began distribution in the summer of 2016. For most of 2018 and a while in 2019, it was distributed to a wider audience by The Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council. It is now an independent Substack newsletter.

John Ellis is the founder and editor, Mary Williams Walsh is the managing editor, Joanna Thompson is the science editor, Tom Smith is the research director, and Susan Smith Ellis is the COO/CMO.
