Weekend Evening Meteorologist at NewsChannel 5 Network

Katie Melvin is a seasoned meteorologist currently serving as the Weekend Evening Meteorologist and Weekday Fill-In at NewsChannel 5 Network since January 2024, where responsibilities include preparing and delivering weather forecasts. In addition, Katie contributes as a Broadcast Meteorology Mentor at the University of Tennessee at Martin, facilitating the first broadcast meteorology class on campus. Previous experience includes roles as Weekday Morning Meteorologist, Evening Meteorologist, and Midday Meteorologist at WSIL-TV from January 2022 to January 2024, along with early career positions at WWAY-TV, Brown Weather, and as a student broadcaster at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication/Media Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
