Phil Williams is an accomplished journalist with extensive experience in investigative reporting. Currently serving as the Chief Investigative Reporter at WTVF-TV's NewsChannel 5 Network since October 1998, Phil leads a seven-person investigative team focusing on government corruption and abuse. Prior to this role, Phil was a general-assignment reporter specializing in investigative work at WKRN-TV, earning a George Foster Peabody Award, and served as a legislative reporter at The Tennessean, where a significant investigation yielded a Pulitzer Prize finalist nomination. Additionally, Phil contributed to the Investigative Reporters and Editors board from 2008 to 2012, promoting training for watchdog journalists globally. Phil began the journalism career at Florida Today, covering major events like the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion. Phil holds a B.S. in Mass Communications from Middle Tennessee State University.
